A’Tuin
Velká A’Tuin je příslušník fiktivního druhu Chelys galactica. Je to obří želva, měřící 16 000 km, která se zvolna pohybuje vesmírem a na svém krunýři, pokrytém zmrzlým metanem a zbrázděném nárazy meteoritů, unáší čtyři gigantické slony (pojmenované Berilia, Tubul, T'Phon Veliký a Jerakeen), na jejichž hřbetech spočívá obrovský otáčející se kotouč Zeměplochy. A'Tuin je jediná želva, která má své místo i na Hertzsprung-Russellově diagramu.
Jakého je A'Tuin pohlaví, není obyvatelům Zeměplochy známo, neboť se jim vzhledem k uspořádání jejich světa dosud nepodařilo pohlédnout na velkou vesmírnou želvu zespodu. K této otázce existuje mezi zeměplošskými učenci řada teorií, které není záhodno pomíjet jako okrajovou záležitost, vždyť pokus A'Tuin o páření s jiným příslušníkem svého druhu by mohl znamenat ohrožení celé Zeměplochy.
V knize Lehké fantastično putuje Velká A'Tuin na vesmírnou obdobu pláže, kde se na závěr příběhu z osmi obřích vajec líhne jejích osm potomků, malých vesmírných želv velikosti asteroidu, každá s vlastní maličkou Zeměplochou. Malá želvata se pak za její přítomnosti vydávají na svou vlastní pouť vesmírem.
